The PVGrows Land Conservation & Access Working Group is facilitating a regional dialogue around barriers to farmland conservation and land access for farmers and growers, and is working with stakeholders from across the state to develop collaborative solutions to protect land and make it available for future generations.
September 15th, 2015:
We met on September 15th, 2015 to:
1. Present new data and other information about MA farmers and farmland
2. Consider policy ideas and research underway through the New England Land Access Policy Project for relevance and applicability to MA
3. Review the MA Food Plan land chapter and brainstorm ways to move recommendations forward as the “action plan” component of the Land Access Policy Project
4. Take next steps around ideas for programs and services (e.g., land access and farmer matching “portal” and land identification)
July 7th, 2015:
Our group had a great turnout on July 7th. We made a lot of headway in shaping the scope and function of this group, and discussed its potential for intersection with the forthcoming statewide food plan. We established some working goals and next steps for achieving those goals, which we’ll develop further at our next meeting.
